The death of a loved one is a harrowing experience, and preparing for their funeral can be very painful. Yet you have to accept your loss and begin making proper preparations for the funeral service so that the guests to mourn along with you. You can get the help you need in making the preparations from any good funeral home, but you should bear a few things in mind before proceeding.
A funeral is an expression of how one lived his life and it must be carried out accordingly. Most funeral homes do not hesitate to compromise upon their standard method of funeral services for including certain cultural or religious preferences of the departed and of his or her family.
The first stage is the visitation, which can take place for a few hours or could extend for a few days. Here, the friends and family gather to remember their loved one. The next phase is formal funeral services in any location like a church, a chapel, a mortuary or any other place that had a special value for the deceased person. However, you must make sure that you have hired a funeral coach, if the place of the funeral is at some outdoor location.
After this service, the family and friends go to attend the graveyard proceedings at the chosen cemetery. You can either allow for this to be handled by a family member or by a member of the clergy. You also have to take care of many other aspects like the type of flowers you want for the service, if you want to exhibit an image of the deceased and who will be the person leading the service.
The last part of the proceedings is the burial of the body in a location, which is generally based on the kind of tradition that the family has. The burial can be done on a family plot or a cemetery, or if the deceased had wished for a cremation, the ashes can be spread at a proper location.
